Volunteers are very welcome and much appreciated.  They help manage the woodland, especially the relentless problem of managing litter.  Litter on the Common is costly to control especially along Petersham Road and Star and Garter Hill.  In 2020 we were helped by the Ham and Petersham Association, The Environment Trust of Richmond upon Thames, The Petersham and Ham Sea Scouts (Beaver Troops), Trust for Conservation Volunteers, Russell Primary School, Duke of Edinburgh volunteers from Bradfield College and St.George’s School.  “The Good Gym Richmond” helped control litter and invasive plants and we were joined by a group of young lads from Ibstock School completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteer hours.
